A couple is in trouble after the wife battered a 13-year-old girl her husband allegedly defiled.
A couple, Franics Onyeji and his wife, Chibuzor, have been arrested by the police in Warri, Delta State, for allegedly brutalizing a 13-year-old girl who lived with them as a maid in the Ekpan ward in the area, reports ThisDay Newspaper.
According to reports, Chibuzor had used a hot knife to lacerate the
JSS 2 student who is her elder sister's child, after she discovered
that her husband had been raping her on a regular basis and giving her
money as her reward.
The little girl who had the
rough side of the coin on both sides, was seriously burnt on her two
feet, arms and shoulders, back and buttocks by the hot knife her aunt
placed on a burning stove meant for that purpose.
Incidentally,
Chibuzor lived with the girl's mother who is her elder sister, before
she got married to the Imo State born Francis who took pleasure in
defiling the poor girl.
The woman was said to have
discovered that her husband had been defiling the girl for two years
and as her punishment, she decided to scald her.
Francis
was said to have had regular canal knowledge of the young teenager and
then giving her some money, which the poor girl used to buy herself a
few things including food as her aunt often denied her her meals.
However,
the lid was said to have been blown off the affair when the girl
reportedly said the money she had brought to school last week had been
stolen and accused some of her classmates of tampering with her bag.
Eventually,
the school authorities, out of curiosity sent a senior staff to follow
her home to ascertain if the affected girl actually took money amounting
to about N1, 500 to school that morning.
The cat
was let out of the bag as the young girl, on interrogation by her aunt
and teacher, confessed that her uncle had been giving her money after
sleeping with her whenever he was off duty from as he usually worked
off-shore for a Warri-based engineering and construction company.
However,
instead of taking pity of the girl, her aunt flew into a rage, claiming
the girl was lying against her husband and proceeded to deal ruthlessly
with her.
The victim who has been handed over to a welfare organisation in the state, said:
"When
my aunt asked me where I got the money from, and I told her it was her
husband who gave me the money after sleeping with me, she said it is a
was a lie."
After inflicting the injuries on
the girl, Chibuzor took her to the streets where she paraded her naked
and threatened to kill her for lying against her husband.
Meanwhile,
the Delta State Police Command says it begun a manhunt for the husband
who has since gone into hiding even as the police has taken the accused
woman into what a source called protective custody to save her life
after youths of Ekpan community allegedly threatened to do to her what
she did to her niece.
